Guest speaker is Lori Kaylor, the Executive Director for Naomi's Village

Naomi's Village is a children's home, preschool and K-12 academy in the Great Rift Valley.  They provide holistic, intentional, and loving care for Kenyan children in need.  Their mission is to provide all that is necessary, for every child served, at every age, so they will grow up to be world-changers.  Their vision is to end Kenya's generational poverty crisis and systemic corruption by equipping its children for compassionate and courageous leadership.

The ongoing vision and purpose of The Potter's Hand Foundation is to bring the Reliv International, Inc. nutritional supplemental products for children, which are so successful in making a difference in the lives of children around the world, to the children of Peru.

Training - Getting familar with CR Nova

This is a Chamber of Commerce event to recognize and award Teachers/Staffers of the Year at the Melissa ISD.  The Melissa Rotary Foundation is one of the  financial sponsor of the event.  Ken Truax and Alec McAtee will be representing our club.

Brian has been with HOPE Coffee since its inception in 2010, starting with a business plan drawn on a whiteboard in Honduras.  As President, he wears many hats - ranging from collaborating with the leadership team to working directly with baristas at each of the three store locations, all while encouraging coffee farmers and exploring new opportunities.  Though he didn't drink coffee when the company first launched, Brian has since developed a daily habit, with his favorite being the Shiloh Roast-a blend from the three countries where HOPE Coffee is grown and the gospel is shared.  He and his wife Jennifer live in Mesquite, Texas and have three grown daughters and are anticipating future grandchildren in the near future.

HOPE Coffee is a coffee company with a heart for missions.  With roots as a ministry to coffee farmers and the families who live in their communities, HOPE Coffee has always been devoted to meeting needs while sharing the hope of Jesus.  To this day, their focus is still to share the love of Jesus and improve the lives of people throughout Central America.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN EVENING FARMER'S MARKET - This is for a booth at the Melissa Farmer's NIGHT Market to sell flags and increase the awareness of Rotary in the Community,  Booth set-up is 5:15 PM and the booth is then manned from 6:00PM - 9:00PM.  Tear down begins at 9:00 PM.  Registration is open so you can sign up to help man the  booth.  Michael Schell said he will be there the entire time.  Volunteer is open for anyone able to help set up.

The club sponsored three Melissa High School Juniors to attend RYLA in May.  These individuals will be joining us to tell of their experiences and highlights during the week.

This is the Distict's Award Banquet for year 2024-25.  Dawn Kelley will be receiving the STAR award for our club.  We have also been submitted for the Foundation Award, Veteran's Award and Public Image Award.  We'd like to have some of our club members present to represent the Rotary Club of Melissa and to congradulate Dawn.  Cost is $58.10/person.  Contact Mary Grubbs or go to our district (5810) events in CR to register

We will have a short meeting and lunch in the Multipuurpose room at City Hall, followed by a tour of the new Library. 

This is a City of Melissa sponsored event for the community.  The actual event is from 3:00pm-9:30pm.  The event is held on Melissa Road between Central St and Miller Rd, just east of Hwy 5 and under the watchful eye of the City's iconic water tower.  John Cave is on the Events Planning Committee and on point for our club.  Rotary supports the event by providing volunteers to help with parking and vendor set-up.  The Club will also have a booth that will need to be staffed.  The volunteer needs and times are forthcoming.  Please go ahead and register and indicate times you are available that day to help.  More information will be provided as it's available.  

The District Governor will be attending this meeting. She will have a short presentation and we will also complete a short service project. Please do what you can to attend this meeting, so we have maximum club support.  

The Board will meet with District Governor Mary Bedosky to share plans for the year and insure we are connected to District information and activities. This meeting is open to all club members.

Guest Speaker is Brittany Tupa from Melissa PD.  Detective Brittany Tupa is a general assignment investigator with the Melissa Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division. She has over nine years of law enforcement experience and has investigated a wide range of crimes. Detective Tupa started and manages the department’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (drone) team and plays an active role in organizing community engagement events. She also holds a bachelor’s degree and is dedicated to combining her investigative skills with community service.

Disease Prevention & Treatment is one of Rotary's six Areas of Focus. This theme highlights Rotary's global commitment to improving health through initiatives like polio eradication, immunization campaigns, and providing access to clean water and sanitation. Rotarians are encouraged to promote health in their communities and support various health-related projects, from local health screenings to global health initiatives.

This is a Progressive Event. We'll gather at the first home for appetizers and hors d'ouvre then move to the second home dessert and gift exchange.

Club members and Interact Club students will mark the graves that will have a wreath layed During Wreaths Across America on December 13 at the Melissa Cemetery.

12/14 - we are still working to organize this event.  The plan is to partner with the Interact club and go Christmas caroling at the Bonham Soldier's Home.  Please register if you plan to attend so we have an idea of how many will be going.  We should know by 12/16 if this is a go or not.

12/16 - Interact has a conflict on this date and is not able to participate.  

Vocational Service Month is a time for Rotarians to focus on applying their professional skills and ethical standards to serve their communities, mentor youth, promote high standards in business, and recognize the worthiness of all occupations as a way to contribute to society.  Clubs use this month to initiate projects like career guidance, skills training, and recognizing professional who exemply Rotary ideals, using the The Four-Way Test as a guide.  

If necessary, we will meet to collect the wreaths layed at veterans graves during the Wreaths Across America ceremony on December 13. Wreaths will be collected and disposed of properly.
