The Rotary Club of Melissa’s annual Chili Cook-off brought the community together to support Rotary International’s PolioPlus project to help eliminate polio worldwide. Volunteer chefs competed while tasters voted with their dollars, raising hundreds of dollars at events in February 2024 and September 2025. Proceeds supported Rotary projects focused on improving health, education, the environment, and alleviating poverty. In 2025, H-E-B sponsored the cook-off winner’s prize, allowing even more funds to be directed to Rotary’s global humanitarian efforts.

The Melissa community turned up the heat for a great cause at the annual Chili Cook-off, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Melissa. Volunteer chefs from across the community brought their best recipes—and their biggest hearts—together to support the Rotary International Foundation’s PolioPlus project, a global initiative dedicated to eliminating polio worldwide. The event blended friendly competition with a powerful mission, showing how local action can fuel global impact.

At the cook-off, tasters voted with their dollars, sampling a variety of chilis while contributing directly to Rotary’s humanitarian efforts. The results spoke volumes. Events held in February 2024 and again in September 2025 raised hundreds of dollars, with proceeds supporting projects that improve health, provide quality education, protect the environment, and alleviate poverty around the world. Each vote cast was more than a taste preference—it was an investment in positive change.

The 2025 Chili Cook-off received an extra boost thanks to sponsorship from H-E-B, which provided the winner’s prize and helped ensure that even more of the funds raised could be directed to Rotary’s global projects. With strong community participation and generous partners, the Melissa Rotary Chili Cook-off once again proved that when a community comes together, even a bowl of chili can help change the world.
