At our Community Luncheon, held on the 2nd Thursday of each month, the Melissa Rotary Club had the pleasure of welcoming Jennifer Shelton from RealOptions, a non-profit organization that has been quietly doing big work across North Texas for decades. Founded back in 1987, RealOptions operates with a clear motto: "Supporting Families. Strengthening Communities." Driven by a team of 34 dedicated staff members and 74 passionate volunteers, their heart is centered on four main pillars - Educate, Empower, Equip, and Encourage Beyond the Decision.
Whether someone is navigating an unexpected pregnancy, stepping into parenthood, or seeking confidential health services, RealOptions makes sure no one has to figure it out alone. Jennifer shared the surprisingly wide range of support and healthcare services RealOptions provides to our region:
Medical & Health Services: Pregnancy testing, sonograms, STI screening and treatment, and Abortion Pill Reversal.
Education & Life Skills: Sexual Risk Avoidance Education, Parenting Classes, and Fatherhood Programs.
Specialized Care & Outreach: Human Trafficking Survivor Care, Jail Outreach, and Post-Abortion Medical Services.
Community & Ongoing Support: Professional counseling, After Abortion Support Groups, and joyful community moments like hosting Baby Showers for expecting families.
