Melissa came alive with energy and community spirit as members of the Melissa Rotary Club joined forces with the Melissa ISD Interact Club and a strong network of local volunteers to support the annual Heart of Melissa Spring Fest, hosted by the Melissa Chamber of Commerce.
In the early hours before the festival officially began, teams of volunteers were already hard at work behind the scenes. Organized and recruited by Melissa Rotary, community members of all ages stepped up to ensure the event ran smoothly from the ground up. Their primary mission: manage vendor parking logistics and assist with vendor setup—two critical components of a successful festival that often go unnoticed by attendees.
Interact students worked side-by-side with Rotarians, gaining hands-on experience in service leadership while demonstrating remarkable teamwork and professionalism. From directing traffic and guiding vendors to designated parking areas, to unloading supplies and helping assemble booths, the group created an efficient and welcoming environment for vendors arriving from across the region.
Rotary members provided coordination and oversight, ensuring that operations flowed seamlessly. Their experience combined with the enthusiasm of student volunteers and community participants created a positive, can-do atmosphere that set the tone for the entire event.
