Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change.  We are an active service organization whose volunteer members work under the motto SERVICE ABOVE SELF.

The Melissa Rotary Club was formed in 2010 with 12 charter members as a satellite club of the Downtown McKinney Rotary Club.  David Dorman, former Melissa Mayor, was the liaison who helped get the Club started.  Our first president was Nadia Tayrari, a local dentist.  We have members from all walks of life representing the City of Melissa.  Since its beginning in 2010, our Club has had members representing the City leadership, MISD leadership and staff, and other civic, church, and business leaders.

From the beginning, the Club has  had an impact through many service efforts in vital areas of our growing community. We serve best by developing partnerships in a joint effort to strengthen the community. This includes working with individuals and many student and non-profit organizations in Melissa to coordinate service projects.  Since 2012, the Club has been working with different groups in our community on our Club's Flag Lease program, now putting out almost 1,000 flags in Melissa six times per year.

The Melissa Rotary Club welcomes participation by volunteers from members of the community, as well as the Club members, for the Flag Lease Program and many other service projects.
