Become A Member of Melissa Rotary Club!

Step One - Apply

At club meetings in communities across the globe, our people of action come together to strengthen their connections to friends and neighbors and their commitment to improving lives.  We’re looking for people who want to give back to their communities.

To Apply for Membership:
  • Complete this application for membership. (Download on side panel)
  • Submit the completed application to Membership@MelissaRotary.org.
  • Attend 2 meetings.
  • The application is given to the President, who schedules a “Meeting with the Presidents”, so that you can learn about the Melissa Rotary Club and they can get to know your interests and background.
  • The President recommends to the Board of Directors that you become a member.
  • The Board recommends to the membership that you become a member.

Step Two - Installation

  • Once approved, a formal meeting will take place for your installation as a member of the Melissa Rotary Club and induction into Rotary International.  You will receive the new member packet and new member checklist.
  • You will submit dues to the Club Treasurer.

Step Three - New Member Orientation

  • Following your installation, you will work to complete the new member checklist.
This program is designed for you to learn more about Rotary and for us, as a club, to learn more about you! We believe this helps you become more involved in the club and get the most out of your membership. Keep your sponsor and Membership Director involved on the status of your progress as you work through this program.

  • Obtain a login/password and sign into Melissa ClubRunner and MyRotary.org
  • Serve as a greeter with your sponsor for 2 meetings
  • Give a 10-minute classification talk to the club (tell us about yourself)
  • Attend a Board of Directors meeting
  • Attend an “overview” meeting with each committee Director
  • Join one of the 4 committees
  • Participate in a service project
In addition to working through these, you will also work with your Membership Sponsor and our Club Membership Director to set up orientation meetings where you will have the opportunity to find out more about the Club and where you best fit into the Club programs and activities.

Obligations of Membership

The Rotary year is from July-June

Annual Dues $200
Dues may be paid in full by June 1st each year or can be broken down into two semi-annual payments paid by June 1st and January 1st.

Rotary International Foundation: $100/year Voluntary Donation
We encourage all members to support the Rotary Foundation each year with a $100/year gift. Many of our members set up a $10/month or $85/month (towards a Paul Harris Fellow award) on an automatic giving schedule by clicking this link and selecting the DONATE NOW button.

Attendance
Each member of our club is responsible for being an active and involved member.  In order to accomplish this, we expect that all members attend a minimum of 25% of all club meetings. Club meetings may be "made up" by attending another club's weekly meeting or attending an online meeting through Rotary International.  Service projects can also be counted as "make ups".

Active involvement in the Club service and projects
Through regular attendance and Club communications (CR phone app, bulletins, emails, social media, calendars) you will be able to choose the areas you would like to be actively involved in the Melissa Rotary Club programs and service.

Rotarian Transfer

Rotarians move, change jobs, and occasionally just need to find a new Club to call home! Our Club has several members that started their Rotary membership in a different club and for a variety of reasons have transferred their membership into the Melissa Rotary Club.
For our Transfer Members our process requires you to fill out the Membership Application and then work with our Membership Chair and Club Secretary to make sure that we facilitate that transfer and give you the opportunity to retain your history and data with MyRotary!
We also encourage our Transfer Members to complete 4 of the New Member Action Items and coordinate with the Membership Chair an opportunity to attend a “Meeting with the Presidents” so that they can learn about the Melissa Rotary Club and they can get to know their interests and background.
